• Encounter Zambia

  CRS Rice Bowl Kick Off. Senior Catholic Relief Services staff member in Zambia, Margaret Mwenya, will be at St. James Church to talk about the work of Operation Rice Bowl and CRS. Margaret Mwenya, a native of the northern part of Zambia, joined Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in 2009 as a Project Manager and has since worked in a wide array of capacities with the agency. As a dedicated specialist in the agriculture and nutrition field, Margaret was drawn to the work of CRS through personal experience witnessing the life saving measures taking place in her home country because of CRS. Margaret stated that, “I saw how dedicated the people worked, moving food and risking their lives.” In her current role as Senior Director of Nutrition and Food Security , she is leading a project that is meant to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women and children under the age of two, through the consumption of nutrient rich diets and the adoption of proper hygiene practices among the populations that are at risk.
