Release of the Names of Clergy with Substantiated Allegations of Sexual Abuse of Minors: Promise Website

As you may know, members of the diocesan curia have been voluntarily cooperating with an inquiry from Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan in her office’s investigation into clergy sexual abuse of minors. This process is culminating in the release of the names of clergy with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of minors as determined by our Review Board by. Attached is the official statement being released this afternoon related to this matter.

Concurrently, we have created a website with contextual information, including the names of clergy with substantiated allegations of sexual abuse of minors: promise.dio.org.

We encourage everyone to make use of the information on this site, especially pastors and parochial administrators. Our hope is that this resource will address many of the questions we have already received, and others likely to come in the future.  We also encourage you to direct your own parishioners to this resource, and, as always, to direct any media inquiries to our communications team in the curia.

Please continue to pray for healing for the victims of clergy sexual abuse and for the Church to remain vigilant in its care of the most vulnerable in our midst.

God bless you.
